The City of Dawson provides a grant to home owners who are 61 years of age or over. To be eligible for the Senior Home Owner Grant the property owner must
- be a property owner who on or before July 2nd of the year for which a grant is provided has reached the age of 61 years.
- be a property owner who owns a single residential dwelling in the City of Dawson and occupies the dwelling as a private residence for a minimum of 270 days of the 365 days immediately preceding the date of issue of a real property tax notice.
The amount of the Senior Property Tax Home Owner Grant payable to a Property Owner who is a Senior Citizen shall be the lesser of:
- $150.00 (One Hundred Fifty Dollars), or
- Current real property taxes minus the minimum tax levied on any real property classified as residential.

Grant Amount:
Eligible individuals can receive up to 50% of the property taxes owing on their residence to a maximum of $450 and subject to a $100 minimum tax. Eligible individuals 65+ can receive up to 75% of the property taxes owing on their residence to a maximum of $500.

Apply for 1 grant each year if you:
- are a Yukon home owner;
- have paid property taxes in full; and
- lived in your home for 184 days (6 months) of the tax year.

Mortgage Company Payment: If your taxes are being paid through your mortgage company, and you would like them to pay your taxes LESS the Home Owner Grant amount, the form must be submitted on or before June 10.
